Histoire des amours d'un grand roy, circa 1681-1685.

Manuscript, on paper, in a single formal cursive hand, of a "histoire amoureuse" of Louis XIV's relationships with the duchesse de La Vallière, the marquise de Montespan, and the duchesse de Fontanges. The text opens with an allusion to Louis' infatuation with Marie Mancini; it closes shortly after relating the death of the duchesse de Fontanges with an allusion to Louis' "confiance" in Madame de Maintenon. The volume concludes with four pages, in other contemporary hands, containing notes on other mistresses of Louis XIV and a sonnet attributed to the duchesse de La Vallière.
